Sims keep on buffering/freezing

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? Nederlands
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.108.349.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expasion packs EXCEPT: Love struck All game packs EXCEPT: journey to Batou All the stuff packs Every kit EXCEPT: Bust the dust, Country kitchen, Everyday clutter, Grunge revival, Castle Estate, Goth Galore, Party Essentials, Urban Homage, Cozy Bistro and Riviera Retreat.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? They are especially good to find while interacting with childeren (infants, toddlers and kids).
What happens when the bug occurs? While playing the sims take long time to do different kind of things. Like putting a toddler to bed or to take a bathe. They stop what they are doing like there pausing but they are not freezing (they keep on breathing? minimaal moving) and they keeps going. Which means making homework while getting tutored by a parent takes 4 to 5 sims hours. But also going to the toilet. A lot of takes takes half a day. So most of the time I reset the sims. Her kids are werewolves and the mother is a spellcaster. They have a dog. Maybe extra information that will help.
What do you expect to see? I hope to see that my sims don't keep on buffering and that not one single task takes half their day.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Last update

I tried repairing the game and tried to clean my files. Both didn't work. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you for stopping by and reading my report!

Here is a link to the safe files.

@IrisAlvarezRocas  The new dxdiag shows another error related to the Nvidia graphics driver plus some generic Windows errors, so please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Checkhealth” without quotes, and enter
    • When it's finished, post the message you see
    • Hit Windows key-X again and choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • Otherwise, after it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again and choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Try again to play, and if you see the same performance issues, please test a new save in a clean user folder.  This is for comparison's sake; I'm not saying you need to get rid of your main save.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save in one of the base game worlds and let me know how it runs.

  • @puzzlezaddict thank you again for your time and effort to help me.
I will play test today in the way you discribed. I will let you know how it went. Here are the results of PowerShell:

  • @puzzlezaddict I only played 5 to 10 min today. But everything went good! No buffering/iddling. I could play test more tomorrow and for longer. How long should I wait before I can play again with my old saves?

@IrisAlvarezRocas  I would say you can test your old saves now.  Please copy them over, if you did try the clean user folder, and test with no mods or cc; you don't need to worry about missing content because the originals will be intact in their old folder.  If you didn't try the new Sims 4 folder, just make a backup copy of the saves folder inside.

If your old saves still have issues, please move your sims to a different lot in one of the base game worlds and test again.  If you still get freezing, try a different household within that save.  The idea here is to try to isolate the source of the issue: the lot or world, or one or more sims, or the save overall.

I'm having the same pausing issues and followed the blog post on uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers but the issue did not get resolved. Any chance you could help me as well.

@puzzlezaddict I tested it after deleting the thumb cache, there was no difference. I tested a new save which didn't have the freezing, and in the old save there was still freezing on a different lot but there wasn't any with a different household.

@shiney987  Try emptying your sims' inventories.  If that doesn't help, split the household up to see whether you can isolate one sim that's causing the problems.
