Sims only loads when minimized (but still loads)

Hello all,

Yesterday I opened my Sims game after not having played it for a while. I updated it and otherwise changed nothing (it ran perfectly last time I played) and this time around the game wouldn't load when in full screen/maximized. When I minimize the game though, the next screen will load. For example, the screen will freeze when the plumbob comes in at the beginning of the loading but if I minimize it and put it in full screen again, it will have loaded the main menu fully. The mouse cannot be moved but I have a Surface Pro which has touchscreen capabilities so I am able to click through the pop ups at the beginning with my finger. I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, uninstalled it and reinstalled it with less packs, and trie the repair function...I dont know what's wrong

  • @MamaMaren  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you see the same issue.

If that makes no difference, please try loading the game in windowed mode.  Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open Options.ini, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

If that doesn't help either, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Changing the fullscreen to 0 fixed it! After it was minimized, I was able to press the fullscreen button (the normal one top right) and it ran smoothly, thank you for your help!
