Sims sleep issues after Cats and dogd

I have an issue with The Sims 4 that is driving me crazy at the moment. They won't sleep. They will only sleep for about an hour or so sim time and get up again. Because of this they are always tired...

    Your pets may be waking them up presuming you have any. You can scold them for doing so.

    Lol I feel daft now you were right. The only thing is, I was watching the sims as they slept and no pets actually entered the room to wake them up as far as I could see, but once I chose to lock pets out of the bedrooms it stopped happening. Thank you!
