Sims wont eat and can't use motherlode cheat

Last night Sims wouldn't eat in 1 save.  They would eat in other saves but not the one I was currently playing.   

Then today, I tried to start a new save with the house and family and motherlode (and other money cheats) wouldn't work (they didn't have enough money for the house). I checked the cheats were on and it was, but no luck).

So I went to another save to see if motherlode worked there and it did.  However when I opened that save it gave me the notification that I completed 26 generations which I had not. They haven't even had kids.  

Is anyone else's game just being weird? I've also had issues with bills not appearing but that's okay.  I did buy 2 packs yesterday as part of the sale and this started after that.  The save that seems to be having the most issues has a lot of CC build items on it so maybe it is that.  I have no mods and the sims themselves have no cc.  

Any ideas?
