sims wont load

I originally downloaded sims a while ago and deleted it as I wasn't using it that much (all done through steam). I recently redownloaded it, again through steam, but it wont start up. steam shows that the game is "running" and ea pops up with "preparing game" for a few seconds before disappearing again then steam returns to showing no games running. Ive contacted ea help directly but nothing working, if somebody knows how to resolve this please lmk
