@Gwittlin Thanks for the dxdiag, which shows a couple of serious errors from one of the graphics drivers. There are also a couple of generic Windows update errors, so that's the place to start:
- Hit Windows key-X
- Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
- Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
- The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
- After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
- Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
- Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
- Post the message you receive here
Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates. If any install, restart again afterwards.
For the graphics driver errors, you'll need to clean uninstall and reinstall both drivers, as described here:
Use the newest drivers HP provides for your laptop. Go here:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops
Enter your laptop's serial number, choose your OS (just Windows 11 is fine) if prompted, and you'll land on the driver download page. Click "All drivers," then Driver-Graphics, and find the newest Intel and Nvidia drivers by release date. Download both before starting the uninstall process.
The correct order of operations here is uninstall the Nvidia driver > uninstall the Intel driver > restart > reinstall the Intel driver > restart > reinstall the Nvidia driver > restart, all while your computer is offline. Once you've done all this, try again to play, and if you still run into trouble, please post a new dxdiag.
