@1ylris1 What do you mean it won't work? Do you click the X, and it doesn't close; or does it close but the screen stays grayed out; or something else? And can you see a response from the X itself, like you're clicking on it? If not, please click around its area, like a bit above or below, to see whether the button is just showing up in the wrong place.
im having the same problem. it lets me click the options menu from start and I can click all of the other buttons in the options menu, but when i go to leave it lets me click the X to leave but it doesnt exit out of options nor does it say anything. it even makes the clicking motion and sound effect when i click the X

@AbsentAbvolt Do you use mods or custom content, and if so, have you tested without it? You don't need to save your progress.
If that doesn't help, please let me know whether your computer runs Windows or macOS.

I do use mods but when I removed my mods folder and just played base game it does the same thing.

@AbsentAbvolt Please disable any apps you use that come with overlays: Discord, Steam, etc. Disable the EA App in-game overlay as well; the option is under Settings > Application.
If that doesn't help, try forcing the game to open in windowed mode. Go into Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4, open Options.ini, search for fullscreen , and set it to 0 (zero).

the same thing is happening to me & really don’t want to have to uninstall & reinstall. has anyone figured out how to fix this? i’ve tried to repair the game several times & it’s not helping.

@jaciellis As asked above, do you use mods or custom content, and have you tried removing those files?
