Don't touch resource.cfg file as mentioned above! It is not to edit or open now! It has already set three levels for subfolders but you have to remember the scripts mods need the first level.

@kreatora Just trying to figure out what file they're referring to. They didn't specify. Although the resource.cfg is the only text file in the mods dir that the base game creates. But the user has mods, and mods can use other text files that might crash the game if configured incorrectly.

Sorry, I should address it to @omgyamisocringe Y.
She wrote that she can play the game just fine if she doesn't try to touch this txt file. So all other files were working properly.
She was referring to a resource.cfg. If you are using many levels of subfolders in the mods folder you can to open this file with notepad and change the number of levels the game will read in this folder. She had no reason to touch another file
