Strange Tab Camera Glitch

Good evening Simmers!

I spent all the time finding a solution for this issue, but Google didn't help me and I wasn't able to find a solution. When entering the tab camera mode, some objects and even sims are looking very strange and "glitchy". I don't know how to describle the problem exactly, therefore I attached some pictures of this strange issue. It came with a patch in the last year I think, but it wasn't there in a very soon version of the game.

The specs of my system:

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3770 @ 4x 3,4 GHz

Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V Pro

Video card: Asus NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 6 GB Turbo

Video card driver version: 445.75

OS: Windows 10 Pro

Game version: 1.61.15.1020 (64 Bit)

The system (CPU, RAM, GPU) is not overclocked.

The following advices to solve this issue didn't work:

- Reinstalling the game

- Repairing the game via origin

- Removing the folder in the Documents and restart the game for creating a new one

- Reinstalling the video card driver

- Removing every mod in the game

Is there any way to solve this issue? Do other players have this issue as well? Or is this a bug of the game the developers haven't fixed or noticed yet?

Thanks for your help and stay healthy!

  • @ScienceRavenclaw  I've seen similar issues on occasion, only at certain camera angles, and always chalked it up to how objects are mapped and rendered in the game.  Since objects are supposed to disappear at close range, so as not to block the view of everything else, with an object or sim that's drawn in an unconventional way, some parts of it might disappear before others, resulting in some components disappearing before others.  (That's just a guess on my part—I don't have the technical knowledge to say for sure—but it does seem to go with the overall effect of panning in or out.)  Is that what's happening to you?  For example, if you move the camera slightly closer or farther away, does everything look normal now?

If this did come with a patch, maybe it was the one that introduced first-person view, since that feature had a few rough edges when it was introduced.  But that's just me speculating.

When I see this kind of thing, I just ignore it and change the camera angle until I get what I want.  It would be interesting to know whether switching among fullscreen, windowed fullscreen, and windowed modes changed anything, especially if changing the angle or panning in or out doesn't fix the glitches.

  • Thank you for your answer!

Yeah, if I move the camera slightly closer or farther away from an object or a sim, everything looks normal. Switching between the modes fullscreen, windowed fullscreen and windowed are not working - the bug still appears. But luckily, theres another computer in our house with an installed sims 4. I don't know if the bug appears on it as well, but if it appears, it seems to be a bug of the game.

I think this bug came actually with the first-person-view patch in the last year.

Nope, the bug appears on the other computer as well. It seems to be a bug of the game and I hope the developers will fix it in the future.

    Thanks for your help!
