Stuck on loading screen prior to main menu

As the title says, my game keeps getting stuck on the loading screen right before the main menu. The music will randomly stop playing and everything stops moving. I end up having to force close it every time, and when I do, that’s when it decides to tell me “the sims 4 isn’t responding”. Prior to this issue starting, I was unable to save in build mode whatsoever. Both of these things started happening after the most recent update.

Things I’ve ALREADY tried:

1) Took out ALL mods

2) Deleted localthumbcache (several times)

3) Repaired my game (three different times)

4) Regenerated a brand new sims4 folder (twice)

5) Uninstalled & Reinstalled both the game & EA app.

6) Switched from Dx11 to Dx9

Side notes:

•I’m using a windows 11 PC.
Brand: AMD Ryzen 7 5700G, 3.80GHz, 64-bit

If you need any more information, please let me know!

@Plumbobsbykalex  Your dxdiag crashed while running, and it also lists some Windows errors that need to be addressed.  So please run a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

Is it true that your computer doesn't have a dedicated graphics card?  The dxdiag doesn't list one, and of course you can play on the processor's integrated graphics, but I want to make sure that there isn't a discrete GPU in there that has failed or is otherwise not recognized.

For the Sims 4 issue itself, please pause OneDrive syncing before playing.  You can do so by right-clicking the cloud icon that's either directly in the lower-right corner of your screen or hidden in the Tray.  For the latter, click the ^ icon.

If this doesn't help, please look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to play Sims 4 (anything that happened after you pressed Play and before the freeze).  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.

  • My DxDiag should be attached.
My OneDrive says it's synced, so I'm assuming it runs (I just never notice it, I guess).
And my antivirus is just the built in windows security software.

  • It said:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.
    PS C:\windows\system32>

As for the graphics card, I'm like 99% sure it has integrated graphics.

I followed the rest of your directions and did have an update available, and did a another restart afterwards.

@Plumbobsbykalex  I just wanted to make sure you didn't have a dedicated graphics card that wasn't working.  If you want to be completely sure, open the case and have a look.  A GPU is impossible to miss: it's large and installed right in the middle of the board.

Anyway, sfc did its job, so that part is fine.  Try again to play, and if you can't, and OneDrive isn't the issue, please post the information you find in the Reliability Monitor, as described above.

  • Whatever the DxDiag did ended up helping! It also made my game load up so much faster than usual! My game used to take 45 minutes just to open and now it only takes about 10min! Thank you so much for your help, I appreciate it a ton!!!
