Sims 3 wasn't avaiblable for consoles from the beginning either. It came later.
They are concentration on the PC version for now but that does not mean, there will never be a console version.
There's no official info about that though

I'm considering getting a Mac but The Sims 4 is actually a huge contribution to my decision whether or not I'll get one. I have found conflicting reports as for whether the upcoming Sims installment will be available for Mac or not. This conflict arises especially because of the Sims 4 FAQ, in which EA points out that the game will be available for PC, without giving the Mac a fair nod. I don't know if this was intentional or accidental. Help is appreciated.
