Teenage sim's boyfriend is single

Hello. I just encountered a new issue regarding romantic relationships.

I have a teenage sim in my household who was in a romantic relationship with another teenager sim. Both the green friendship bar and pink romance bar were almost all the way full, they had gone on several dates together, and I have used the "ask to be boyfriend" and "exchange promise rings" interactions in the past. I have never had them break up, ask to just be friends, etc. When I highlight my sim's boyfriend in the relationship panel, their relationship says that they are "lovers," "sweethearts," and "promised".

I recently switched my teen sim's aspiration to the serial romantic aspiration, and one of the first requirements is to have a boyfriend or girlfriend, which was not being counted as complete. I thought that the aspiration might just be bugged, but I also noticed that my sim had the option to use the "ask if single" interaction on the other sim, and the notification says that "[My sim] learned that he is single!"

The other sim is still a teenager, so it is not an issue with one of them aging up to YA before the other.

I've tried repairing the game and clearing cache, neither of which did anything. I do use CC (but not mods), and I have also tried removing the CC, and am still having this issue.

So in summary, the issue is that, although these two sims have a nearly full friendship and romance bar and have used the interactions to become boyfriend / girlfriend, for some reason, the game is still counting them as single.
