The game keeps crashing after loaded

Hello All!

My Sims4 has been crashing since yesterday. My version is up to date(1.114.46.1030). My PC installed windows11 and the game is installed with Steam+EA app.  I tried a lot of times but still cannot play it. Everytime after I started the game, it fell into one of the below symptoms:

  1. The PC entered bluescreen and was forced to reboot.
  2. The game suddenly exited.
  3. The game hung there and the background music kept playing.

I tried to resolve the issue in the below ways with no luck.

  1. Move the Mods folder to another place and restart the game.
  2. Move the saves folder to another place and restart the game.
  3. Keep the above folders as they are and start a fresh new save.

Besides, there are crash dumps under The Sims 4  folder but I cannot resolve the backtrace.

Could you help me to take a look? The DxDiag, lastCrash dump, game Config are attached.

    https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-windows-11-with-an-in-place-upgrade.418/

This shouldn't delete any of your data, but if you get to step 14 and are NOT asked to keep personal files and apps, back out and start over.

Once you've finished, do a clean uninstall and reinstall of both graphics drivers.  Here's how:

    https://crinrict.com/blog/2019/02/clean-re-install-of-graphics-drivers-with-display-driver-uninstaller-ddu.html

CRITICAL:  If you only use a PIN to sign into Windows, switch to a full password first. There's a bug with Windows 11 that can send you into a boot loop when booting into safe mode, as the above instructions describe, if you only have a PIN.  But setting a full password gets around that.

Use the newest drivers Asus provides for your laptop, which you can find here:

The Nvidia driver is a bit old, but not too much for Sims 4.  And you can update again later if necessary, but please test with this driver first.

The proper order of operations here is uninstall the Nvidia driver > uninstall the Intel driver > restart > reinstall the Intel driver > restart > reinstall the Nvidia driver > restart, all while offline.  Then go back online and test the game.

Once you've done all this, try again to play Sims 4, and let me know how it goes.

puzzlezaddict Thanks for your suggestion! The issue was gone after I uninstalled and reinstalled the game from Steam. Then I moved my saves and mods back and the game was still in good status, so I think the issue might still be related to the game itself. By the way, I upgraded my Nvidia driver after that. Thanks for your help!

    Best Regards.

  • toemtrvh4eae  The game should NEVER cause a BlueScreen of any kind.  It is possible that the Nvidia driver was triggering all the BSODs, and given the sequence of errors in your dxdiag, somewhat likely that it was triggering at least some of them.  So replacing the driver may have been the only required step here.  But it's pretty rare that a graphics driver does more than crash itself and any game currently using it.

Anyway, I hope everything keeps working going forward, but if you get another BSOD, I would still suggest running a repair install of Windows.
