The Sims 3 camera option.

After the July 21, 2026 update the sims 3 camera option is no longer working. I have to use keyboard shortcuts. I deleted the all of the documents folder and started fresh, have turned off and back on the camera option, no luck. Changed the camera.ini file in EA Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin\res to true. Set everything to defaults, no luck. I thought it would be fixed in the hotfix from today but still no luck.

Anyway, please try playing in a clean boot (not a clean Windows install, just a way to disable background apps that might be interfering).  Here's how:

The one service to leave enabled is the EABackgroundService, which the EA App needs in order to run.  Disable the rest as described.

When you reboot your computer, go through the Task Manager's background processes list shutting down any service that doesn't absolutely need to be running, for example anything from MSI Afterburner to RGB software might still be enabled.  If you accidentally kill a critical process and it doesn't restart on its own, just reboot your computer again.

Don't open anything other than Sims 4 and the EA App while testing, not even a browser window.

If this helps, you can selectively reenable services until you find the culprit, then either leave that disabled or (if it belongs to an app you want to keep using) let me know what it is so we can try to fix the underlying issue.

  • I have tried everything, I think. I did a repair, I switched to Sims 4 camera and restarted. I rechecked the camera.ini again, changed to true started again, turned it to false restarted checked the camera 3 option again. I don't know what else to do. It's very annoying.

  • Thank you yes, I just remembered and replied. I did try fullscreen and windowed mode still didn't fix it. I will try the switch to Sims 4 camera and restart the game.

  • Oh and I even switched between Windowed , windowed fullscreen and Fullscreen and it still didn't work.

  • krash1220  Does this happen in fullscreen mode, windowed mode, or both?  When testing, switch modes, switch to the Sims 4 camera, quit the game and reload, and switch back to the Sims 3 camera.
