The sims 4 freezes my entire PC since july 21st update

When clicking save and exit the game, the game starts saving but then it freezes. 
Funny thing is I cannot seem to find a way to close it, not even Alt F4 or going to the task manager seem to work, especially because apart from the frozen game I can only see the taskbar, cannot go to ANY other app.
The game never froze since I started playing on my new PC, not even with mods.
