Not sure what you mean.
If you downloaded a mod that is not a script mod but tuning one, then it will show under non-script mods.
Does it not work in the game ?

Then how can I unscript it and make it scrpit.

That's not for you to change. There are mods that are script mods and others that are non-script (includes all hair/object cc).
It will say in the description what it is and if you have script mods, you will also need to tick the box in the options for them to work.
You should ALWAYS read instructions on how mods work and try to understand what they are before puting anything in. Every mod will come with instructions. So the questions is: Does it work ingame ?

I have a similar problem with the hair mods...it doesn't work ingame. Whenever I have a sim in CAS mode, it shows up fine until I go back into gameplay...could there be something I'm doing wrong?

yes it does still work but some might not so you will have to try different things like on mod the sims it gives you several different files and you can try the latest version if that doesnt work maybe try the middle one or stuff like that..
