I'm having the exact same problem, except when i do try to create a backup as instructed in the link (on my USB). I still get the error when I try to start up the sims 4. I save the sims 4 folder from documents into my USB and then I name the folder in my documens "The Sims 4_Backup" but I still get the same error, please help ☹️

I'd also like to note, this started happening only after I installed the newest update for sims 4 today (26/09/2014)

I have the exact same results, I did as it said with making a backup folder of the folder in my USB drive, then I renamed the folder in Documents/Electronic Arts to 'The Sims 4_Backup' and still got the same error. If someone would reply to this with a solution that WILL work with this, please do.

I've had this type of error before and have fixed it by deleting the autosave's from the game, and just used my actual last save.
I hope this helps.

- 11 years agoI'm going to try your solution. I have not been able to play since 5/5. I have tried everything. I'm at the point that I may have to start over. How fair is that? I'm a little psst.
- 11 years agoWhere do I find the auto save? Still can't play

Installed the update today and now cannot play with ANY mods in the folder. Any ideas? Tried the backup method, didn't work.
Even worse is that since the update, Sims 4 has decided that my save game is from a "newer" version of the Sims - impossible when I'm using the latest version.
