1. open origin
2. go to 'My Games'
3. click on the 'i' button next to the 'play' button by the sims 4 game
4. then click on 'game properties'
5. check the box to disable origin in game

Had the same problem but after moving the savefiles to another dir the game started working again
Placed the first 2 series of savefiles back in the (user) folder and it is playing fine now.
Most saves also there.
KInda odd that the last savefile was of today even if i could not start the program at all.

The simple solution of disabling origin in the game worked for me.. just going to game properties after clicking "i" and checking the box. Instructions on another post. thanks

thankyou so much, my game had completley crashed and i thought id have to delete and then repurchase the game but after reading through loads of comments and trying everything your suggestion made everything up and running again. thankyou.😉
