I'm having the same issue. I never had trouble running the game until a few weeks ago, and now every time I try to launch the game, it crashes before even getting to the main menu. So annoying! I've tried all the suggested fixes on here so far, and no luck ☹️

I am having the same problem.  It doen't matter if I launch it through Origins or directly from Windows.  I don't get to the main menu.  Considing how expensive this abreviated version of the game is, you would think it would at least work.
