@keyanamaree Is your computer a pc or mac? Was the local store a resale store? Really need a complete error message. It is possible to have the disc and still use the digital download. Are you installing from disc or Origin?

the computer is a PC, windows 7.

the store is JB HIFI brand new with the plastic still on the game.

i inserted the disc and followed the instructions for the origin account completed all that and had my account verified.

after that there were no further prompts from auto run on how to install the game so i found the redeem code part in origin typed it in and then downloaded the digital copy.

it completed the download after about an hour and came up with that message. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the origin app (or program) then attempted to install again the same message popped up again. I've now deleted the game file completely from my computer and am now attempting to re-download. if that message pops up again i will post it here. i remember it had a code of 1638.. thanks for your help 🙂

@keyanamar Try this first - Find Update KB2918614 in the list and uninstall it. This update may break Windows installer service.

What  you need to do is download the runtime package from Microsift. Try this link -  vc++ runtime Be aware that Windows 7 main support has expired and is now on extended support. Microsoft is giving away upgrades to windows 10 until July 29, 2016. Think about it but you don't have much time. Download the installer from Microsoft and install.
