The Sims 4 lags to the point i can't even play

Hi, I bought Seasons and two stuff packs two days ago, when they got installed, the game started lagging so much i couldn't play at all, and the loading time takes about 5 minutes, this never happened before, and I had about 7 Gb of mods and i was perfectly fine, some glitches occured but they were manageable, however, this case is different. I removed all the mods, still lagging. Did a factory reset, still lagging. I uninstalled then reinstalled, a little good, when I added some of the mods, it was still doable, but note that that this time I had to turn off the internet connection, when i turned on the connection, it started lagging again, the loading takes time, and i got an error code of 123 something, i removed the mods again, but the game still lags, but no error code though. I am really tired.

Note: I have a lot more packs already, and I never faced such problem before.

I removed the mods, removed the localthumbcach and those other unnecessary caches, deleted them from the recycle bin, and still no improvement. I really need help. It's a shame I paid a lot of money only not to be able to play the game.

Hi, so it seems I know where the problem lies now, it's when I charge the laptop ... any idea how to solve that ?? 😅

  • @rhrhmm  That's odd—you should see better performance, not worse, when the laptop is plugged in.  How hot does the bottom of the laptop get, and does it help to elevate it (put books under the corners or something) while you play?

I'd also like to see the results of some hardware monitoring, which will show what, if anything, is overheating.  Please download hwinfo (it's free) from here:

    https://www.hwinfo.com/download/

You don't need to install anything; just choose the Portable version, unzip it, and launch it from Downloads or wherever you like.  If you do want the full installer, be sure to click the button for hwinfo itself, not for lansweeper.

Restart your computer and plug it in.  Open hwinfo, choose Sensors Only, and click the button that's a sheet of paper with a + to start logging.  Save the log file to your desktop for easy access.  Wait five minutes, then open Sims 4 and play for at least 20 minutes.  Don't alt-tab out of the game or run any other programs, aside from the EA App of course, while you're testing.  After 20 minutes, quit the game, unplug the laptop, wait a few minutes, reload, and play for 20 more minutes.  When you're done, click the same button to stop the logging.

Please upload the log to the third-party filesharing site of your choice (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and link it for me.  Either leave it in .csv format or, if you're going to use OneDrive, create a .zip file, and don't open the log before uploading it, or else my log reader might not be able to interpret it.
