The sims 4 not launcing in EA app

Every time I try to launch the same pop-up appears.

"Unable to start: Cannot start because game data is missing or damaged. If you have Mods installed please remove them and try again. If not, please repair or reinstall the game via Origin."

I don't have any mods. I have tried to repair and reinstall on EA and Origin. And of course Origin doesn't work since that stupid EA pop-up appears making it impossible to click anywhere in the Origin App.

i have tried every trick and tip online and nothing works. This problem has been going on for ages and the only thing EA has done is make it impossible to use Origin.

  • @elisepaas  Thanks for the dxdiag, which shows a few failed Windows updates that should be addressed.  I doubt they're interfering with Sims 4, but it's usually easy enough to fix.  Please start with a couple of basic checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

For the error itself, do you use a third-party antivirus?  If so, please disable it, clear the EA App's cache:

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

and repair the game again.  Don't reenable the antivirus until you've tried to launch Sims 4 again.  As long as you don't do anything else at the same time, your computer should be safe.  If this helps, set exceptions in the antivirus for TS4_x64.exe and EADesktop.exe.

If this doesn't help, have you tried moving the Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts yet?  Please do so or let me know that it didn't work.

The next step would be a clean uninstall and reinstall of Sims 4:

    • Put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
    • Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
    • Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
    • Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
    • Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

Uninstall the EA App with Revo as well.  I don't have instructions for that at the moment, but the process should be straightforward.  Restart again when you're done.

Install the EA App, then create a new folder into which you'll install Sims 4.  The folder should be on the root level of the drive of your choice, for example C:\Games is fine, but not C:\Program Files\Games.
