The Sims 4 shortcuts

My name is Xanthi. I've purchased The Sims 4 recently, but I face a problem during gameplay.
The 1-2-3 shortcuts of time management don't always work. Did I do something wrong? Is there a cheat to activate the shortcuts or something in the game settings?
