The Sims 4 won't open at all

I wanted to play The Sims 4 after months but it wouldn't open...  I tried clearing my cache, reinstalling the EA app, repairing The Sims 4, restarting my computer, and shutting down my computer then turning it on again but none of it would work. I even removed my mods folder and it still wouldn't open...

  • I reinstalled The Sims 4 with Revo Uninstaller and IT WORKED!!! I can play now but hopefully the only thing to do is to fix my mods because I have a visual glitch, I think all my CC is fine though.

  • does it freeze on the blue screen and not loading the intro after opening?

There's no blue screen that shows up. When I go into the EA app and press play to play The Sims 4, the EA app closes as if it's launching The Sims 4 and that's it

  • thesoulfulsoul  If you haven't already, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

  • thesoulfulsoul  I don't see any Sims 4 errors in your dxdiag, but the EA App has been crashing.  So it's a good idea to do a clean uninstall and reinstall of the App.  Use Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine), and choose the Advanced scanning method when asked.  Restart your computer before reinstalling the App.

Your dxdiag also lists a number of crashes of a component of the Acer User Experience Improvement Program (UEIP), so please end any tasks with that or a similar name in the Task Manager before you try to play Sims 4.  The process(es) would likely be in the background services list.  They'll restart with Windows, which is fine and can be addressed later if necessary.  But if they restart on their own, before you have a chance to play without them, let me know.

I did the steps for the EA app with Revo Uninstaller like you said but I still couldn't open the game. I looked in the task manager but nothing UEIP or anything similar. I feel like I may need to reinstall The Sims 4 itself but I'm scared of losing my progress 😭 Maybe I'm doing something wrong

  • thesoulfulsoul  There are other steps you can take before reinstalling the game.  One is to create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link your Microsoft account or any email address.  (You'll be able to keep declining until Windows asks you to answer some security questions instead.)  In the new account, you can try to launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything, but your saves and other user data won't be available.

If you do want to uninstall and reinstall, you can prevent data loss by backing up your user data first.  The clean-uninstall instructions in the accepted solution of this thread cover backups too:

And if you're going to uninstall, you might as well be thorough about it.

  • is anyone else experiencing weird things in the build mode? like all of my controls are disappearing from the bottom of the screen and i either have to restart the whole game or go back to the main menu. also since this latest update there's so much crap on my screen now i guess from all of the new challenges?? like there's mini icons everywhere even in my sims need bar now. idk. its annoying and it looks very weird now.

  • nene06121  The first part is happening here and there.  It would best to post a lastUIexception from when this happened, that is if you're running the game in Windows or macOS.  The file would be in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4.

Please delete any you have, trigger the error again, and see whether you get a new file.  If you do, copy its text and paste it into a new reply.  Please test with your Mods folder empty or removed.

The second part sounds like one of these, depending on your platform:
