The Sims game working only low fps

When playing the sims, the game is basically 2 fps all the time. The problem is quite new, and I haven't countered it ever before. I tought it was my memory (8GB) as it was in 95-100 % usage while playing, but after doubling the memory the 2 fps is still here. In theory it shouldn't be my graphics card, but I won't rule that out.

I have tried repairing the game files, deleting all mods, turning graphic settings lower, but nothing seems to work.

Nevermind... Turning the game from fullscreen mode to windowed fullscreen did wonders. Now the fps is usable most of the times, but there is still some drops once in a while. If anyone can explain to me why does this work, I'd love to hear!

  • @Banskuzz  Does the in-game resolution you're using match your monitor?  Do you have any other apps running in the background while you play?  (Please check the Task Manager to be sure.)   And disable the EA App in-game overlay as well; the option is under Settings > Application.

If none of this helps, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Or, if you'd just prefer to use windowed fullscreen the whole time, you don't need to bother testing.  As for the occasional fps drops, they can happen for a variety of reasons, not all of which are fixable.  The first question is whether there's any pattern to the fps drops, e.g. they happen at a certain sim-time of day, on a particular lot, or when certain sims or outfits are on-screen.

Yea, i checked the resolution, and I only have discord and Spotify. Okay yea I'll have to check the ea overlay tho.

For now I'll probably use the windowed full-screen -mode.

I mostly build, so i haven't really checked it in game mode yet. I'll have to see about that tho.

    Thank you so much!

@Banskuzz  The Discord overlay may be the problem here, or Discord in general.  I remember a couple of years ago the app was causing slowdowns while gaming on many systems for no apparent reason.  I haven't heard of Spotify causing problems, but it's worth disabling too, as a test.
