The VC++ runtime redistributable package error 1602/5100

When I was trying to install The Sims 4, Origin said: "Error: The VC ++ runtime redistributable package was not installed successfully." Now it is number 1602, but before it was 5100 too. (Do you know what is the difference between these 2 errors?)
I tried to do everything in this article:

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/your-vc-runtime-package-has-not-installed-correctly-error-troubleshooting/

The first day I looked for updates and it found only a one small update (update took a few minutes), so I confirmed it and reinstall all VC ++ packages, but the error was again. The second day my PC found Windows 10 update from April 2018, but now I can´t repair VC ++ 2010 packages. When I'm trying to repair them, they "are waiting for another install to complete".

Is that the reason why I have a problem installing The Sims 4? And does anyone know how to fix it?

I suspect you are not rebooting correctly. Click on the Start/Windows button, click the power/shutdown button and then either fully power off or choose restart.

Have you been able to repair those packages since I assume the current install process would have completed by now?

If not, reboot and then retry and let us know how you get on then, thanks.

I´ve been asking Microsoft for help and I´ve been trying to repair VC ++ 2010 packages. But not successfully yet. Have you any advice what I should do? The same problem - waiting for another installation to complete. After restart too.

There should be no incomplete installations after a reboot. The Sims 4 needs the 2010 and 2013 packages, I think you should uninstall those from your Windows Control Panel and then run the four vcredist installs (from your Sims 4 location) after another reboot. Again, let us know what happens with that, thanks.

I uninstalled VC ++ 2010 and 2013, but when I want to install vcredist 2010 (from The Sims 4 location) after reboot, it doesn´t finish the installation (look at the picture).

  • I have the same problem. I can't install the VC files, because it says it has to wait for another install to complete. There is no other install and rebooting did not fix this problem. Did you fix it?

Edit: Just after posting this, I fixed the problem by ending "Windows Installer" in the task manager. This made the installation of the vcredist possible and now my sims game works!
