Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 Problem With Your Game's Setup
I am experiencing a persistent "There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall your game" error when trying to launch The Sims 4 for the first time. This is a brand-new Lenovo IdeaPad laptop, and the game has never successfully launched on this device.
I have spent hours troubleshooting. Here is a comprehensive list of everything I have tried so far:
System & OS Troubleshooting:
Full Windows Reinstallation: Discovered a factory version mismatch (motherboard had a Windows 11 Home digital license, but Windows 11 Pro was installed, causing non-genuine activation errors). I successfully performed a clean downgrade install to Windows 11 Home using an official Microsoft ISO. Windows is now fully activated, genuine, and updated.
Game & App Troubleshooting:
Clean EA App Reinstall: Completely uninstalled and reinstalled the EA App to clear any registry keys left over from the previous OS configuration.
Repaired Game Files: Used the Manage > Repair tool in the EA App multiple times.
Admin Privileges: Configured both the EA App and the game executable (TS4_x64.exe) to Run as Administrator.
Visual C++ Runtimes: Downloaded and installed the latest official Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (X64) files after reinstalling Windows.
DirectX Toggle: Added the -dx9 command line argument to the game's Advanced Launch Options in the EA App to test compatibility.
Despite a clean operating system and all standard configurations being checked, the game still refuses to boot past the EA App launcher and throws the game setup error.
Could a community manager or support agent please look into my EA App logs, or advise on what hidden registry conflict or driver interaction could cause a fresh installation on a clean, genuine copy of Windows 11 Home to lock up like this?
Thank you for your help!
