Trash bins on public lots

How do I get a trash bin on a public lot - not a venue. There is trash everywhere and my sims are very upset but when I try to have them clean it, it says a trash bin is needed. I tried putting trash bins all around the edge of my sim's property but it is not working. Please help me clean up this mess.

Hi! Thank you for responding. I decided to try "shift clicking" on the items to reset them. After I restarted my game the piles that I had reset were gone so I did the rest. To answer your question though, the trash had been there for about a "Sim week" before I finally thought to reset. Maybe it was simply a glitch. Thank you again.
Maybe this will help someone else having the same problem.
Suggestion: maybe an update that puts trash bins on all of the public lots so that Sims can clean up.

Thank you for your response but that is for editing the community lots. I am trying to add trash bins to a public lot. (the small areas that Sims have access to but are not true lots.

Oh that's a good question.
You could try to drag the trash to a trashcan. Don't know how to edit that space.
Would love to check it out for you but I'm unable to play atm due to a bug in the game. Hope dragging works.

Thank you for responding. I have tried dragging to a bin, a lot, a sim but nothing works. I have an area next to my household that is a mess (it even has homework there) I thought having a sim clean it up would work but it just keeps saying a bin is needed.

How long has it been there ? There's no way to remove trash that's not on a lot but public spaces and lots should be cleaned autoamtically on a regular basis.

I shift clicked and it gave me the option to throw away.
