It is possible that custom content is causing your game to fail while loading. If you are running your game with script mods and custom content, please try removing or disabling them then re-launching your game. If the problem persists and you've been able to play without encountering these problems previously, try resetting your game data.
If you haven't been able to play your game please post your DXDIAG so that the problem can be identified accurately.
i dont have custom content, im not sure how all of this works though, would resetting my game data erase all of my households and progress?

No, you will not lose your household or progress if you return all of your save files to "My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Saves" be sure to delete the file Slot_00000001.save before launching your game. Please also post your DXDIAG as requested so that your hardware capacity and compatibility can be verified. Just attach the diagnostic report to your next reply.
