No. Microsoft did not come by and formatted your C: drive you or someone else with access to the computer did. The user files including saves are in Document which is why you lost the saves.

The reason that you can't set the imported Sim as father is because the other Sim already has a father.

As @Psychotps wrote you can save all the Sims to the Library and in a new Game you can import them one by one and set the relationship. They will lose all other relations.

Actually jpkarlsen Microsoft remote accessed my computer and wiped my C drive. Also, all of my Sims 3 and Sims 2 games that were in that same directory folder are intact -- so Yeah, My Documents folder was on the K drive which is not the drive windows is installed on. Windows is installed on the C drive, which is the drive that was wiped when the idiot tech reinstalled windows, which she wasn't supposed to do. And then the Microsoft store did a sloppy job backing up my data and did an incomplete transfer of data from their server to my computer. I have lived over 30 days with this nightmare -- so talk what you know and not what you think.

Since I had to reinstall all of my games and basically start all over, the only intact relationships are families that are saved as one household. All of my generations were lost. I am only planning to fix one or two family generations.

No, You were a victim of a well known scam. The next time someone phones you and claim to be from Microsoft support remember that Microsoft do not phone or send mail to end users offering to fix their computers. If you had any bank details or credit card details stored on the computer immediately contact your bank about this issue. Also change all your passwords.

I'm sorry that you fell for this scam but a little common sense should have told you that Microsoft can not contact millions of users in this way.

@troshalom - Is that link where you got your remote support from in the first place? Most people know that you can receive remote assistance from Microsoft, I think @jpkarlsen was just trying to alert you that it is highly unusual for a Microsoft tech to wipe a hard drive and reinstall Windows via remote assistance. They *might* do a reset, saving all your files, but that would cause some suspicion as well.

If you were troubleshooting a problem on your computer, and used the option in Windows to "Get Help" and then chose to go to Microsoft support and get remote assistance through the secure app (after digitally signing the terms on that link that you provided), then at the very least you got some bad service from their support. 

However, if you had a window come up on your machine claiming that you need to call Microsoft tech support or click on a link to go to a support website, or someone called you on the phone and said there was something wrong with your pc, or any other kind of notice that appeared to come from Microsoft - this is a very well-known scam that has caught a lot of people. Some of these pop-up windows look very official and seem to relate to what you're doing. The important thing to remember is:

As far as the original problem goes, does your K:\ drive still have a Documents folder and the sims 4 files on it? If so, you can probably get all of your stuff back by redirecting The Sims 4 to access the K:\ drive again. The Sims 4 saves to "My Documents". When Windows was reinstalled, it probably reverted to changing your "My Documents" folder back to the C:\ drive. If you find that the folder is on the K:\ drive, but you don't want to change it back, you can just copy the folders and files onto your C:\ drive (in the same folder structure).
