Are you using any mods or CC? If yes move the mods folder to the desktop and try without it.
Errors of the game are saving sometimes in localthumbcache.package file. Find this file in the folder of the game and delete it. The game will recreate it but without saved errors. Look for it in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims4 folder.
Then fix the game in Origin
Origin /Library - right click on TS4 - option "repair game"
Problems with a long time to complete a single task may indicate that there is not enough memory RAM for the game left by the system.
However, the best way to get rid of all small bugs like this and to eliminate the possibility of too small memory is doing the factory reset of the game folder.
