TS4 not recognising graphics chips; Iris Plus nor GeForce MX230

I've just got a new PC and a problem to join it. ☹️

TS4 has no ability to recognise the existence of my GeForce MX230. It will only recognise the Intel Iris Plus Graphics, and even that not well.

There is no reference to the MX230 in config.log, and the Iris is listed as Found: 0, Supported, 1.

Can I have some help in getting the MX230 to work? I've already set TS4 to use the MX230 in the NVIDIA Control Panel but that doesn't work.

  • @bkajnl  There's nothing obvious in the dxdiag about your MX230 that would prevent it from being recognized.  When you say you set the Nvidia Control Panel to use the high-performance card, did you specifically set up a profile for TS4_x64.exe?  TS4.exe is for the 32-bit version, now the Legacy Edition.

If that doesn't help, install new drivers for both of your cards and try again.  Dell posted new ones for your laptop a few days ago.

Click Show all Downloads and scroll to Video.

Once the game is using the MX230, I'll write out the line you need to add to graphicscards.sgr to get the card recognized.

It's not directly related, but your dxdiag lists a number of Origin Web Helper Service crashes.  It's best to just disable the service at least until the next Origin patch.  In Origin, hover over your username and select Application Settings.  Under Application (the first header), scroll down to Start-up options to see the setting.  Then hit Windows key-R and enter "services.msc" without quotes.  In the long list of services, scroll down to the Origin web helper, double-click, select "Disabled" under Startup type, and click Apply.

Both TS4 .exes said they were already set to use the NVIDIA card but I reapplied the setting to be sure. I also stopped the helper service from starting and now my card works. I had previously added my card to graphicscards.sgr but only now it works with Found 1, Supported 1. Strange. Thanks for your help.
