ultra speed not working sims 4

my game won't let me speed up to the highest amount when I press ultra speed it goes at the same rate as the speed below it, I've been having this issue for probably half a year now and its starting to really bug me when my sims are at work or sleeping I just have to wait, no one is on the lot but my 1 sim and it still continues to do this can someone help me? (edit) time will also go 1-2 hours ahead at ultra speed but then it jumps back to the time before, (ex) is it was 8 and my sim was in bed i press ultra and it appears to work and speeds up for about 2 hours to 10 but then it jumps back to 8 and stops working again and it will repeat this over and over.
