Unable to move cursor, colors inverted

When I launch the Sims 4, my screen freezes immediately and I am unable to move my cursor. Alt tab out and back in does not help. It only causes the screen to load for a moment and it freezes again. The colors on my screen are also inverted when I have the game open. I have tried uninstalling. Initially, I had downloaded the EA app and was launching it from there. I then downloaded steam and launched it from there, but I experienced the same issue as it still used EA to launch. Please help!

  • @fzrfry1a39my  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

Please also let me know whether the screen freezes if you launch Sims 4 in windowed mode.  For that, open Options.ini, inside this same Sims 4 folder (the new one that spawns), search for fullscreen, and set it to 0 (zero).

The inverted color issue is pretty weird.  Do you mean that the colors on your desktop are inverted too, or just the ones in-game?  While you're playing in windowed mode, you should be able to see some of the desktop.

Thank you so much for the suggestions!

I moved the folder onto my desktop and unfortunately nothing seemed to change.

However, I did go into the options that appeared in the new file and set fullscreen to 0. Upon launching the game, I can move my cursor & colors are normal. I do not mind playing in windowed mode at all, thank you so much for your answer!
