Unable to start: Initialization error at start up. [135dec40:29f00e76:00000084:1

After merging my cc to reduce my game load time. I then got a message saying "Unable to start: Initialization error at start up. [135dec40:29f00e76:00000084:18a1dd51]". After that, I repaired the game now the game just completely closed and crashed after pressing play.

  • @tattletalestarng Merging Sims 4 CC doesn't make much difference in load time - the way you want to do that is by turning off the option to show your mods and CC on loading, which is in Options > Other. It also makes it super hard to find broken content or to avoid having duplicates.

Try removing the merged file, deleting localthumbcache, and putting the CC back in in its usual form. That's a good time to also check for duplicates by getting it organized by, say, creator.

  • I don't know if you already solved it or not, but I was having this error, and none of the solutions I saw in several related posts worked. But looking into one of @puzzlezaddict's answers, where he mentioned the antivirus issue, I opened my antivirus exclusions and added the Origin folder. Voilá, the game opened seamlessly.

I hope this simple fix can help you, though Antivirus programs are very nosy around your system. Some time back, I decided to ditch my McAfee subscription, though I had it active for more than 280 days, because it was deleting files that I had whitelisted. Now I am using the best Antivirus: Windows Defender and common sense. Windows Defender properly left the entire Origin folder in peace.
