Unlocked furniture not available for other homes

In houses your Sim doesn't live in ? Is anyone living there ? Prebuild families ?

Both houses where other families live, as houses where nobody lives yet (build mode). I tested it with my astronauts too, they unlocked the rockets, but as soon as they moved out of that house they were locked again. Is this supposed to happen? As far as I would think, if I have one sim that becomes a master chef then I would have to be able to use the advanced fridge and stove for any family that can afford it from then on. That gives some extra meaning to achieving the highest careers.

If it's the family you've unlocked the achievement with, you should be able to buy it (in my opinion).

Really unsure though. My families don't move around a lot 🙂

I would have thought that if one family unlocked it, it means I as a player have unlocked the item, and thus I can use it for any families I play with. But apparantly it only  unlocks for the specific family. Is it possible to add something like this as an option? Achievement unlocks for achiever / all families? Something like that?

OK, so I misunderstood you ? It unlocks if your Sim that has unlocked them moves but not other families ?

The topic gets a lot of responses, apparantly I'm not the only one who has an opinion about the locked items. I would invite everyone that has something to add to reply to the thread as well, to maximise the chance of it actually being picked up!
