They definitely appeared when I wasn't playing him.
I generally don't like to collect things because I know they can cause lags when there's too much items in the inventory or in the fridge or a storage box etc.
It was strange because I don't think I'd experienced anything like it before since the violin patch but yeah I don't know how.
The sim has is painting skills at level 9 with the creative visionary aspiration reward I bought so I know if he painted them it would be minimum excellent quality, but the ones in his inventory were all normal quality.
Unless he would automatically buy things at the flea market events but then I don't know how to get him to not attend it or buy things automatically when I'm not playing him.
The only mods I have active now are shirts, wall paints, carpets etc.
Just CAS or build mode stuff.
I used to have mods that made painting, writing and all that faster but then my sims got really rich way too fast that I got rid of them lol, if only that mod existed in real life haha I'd take it in a heart beat.

Thanks again for replying, really appreciate it.
I'm trying one more solution to see if it works and if it doesn't I'll upload my save game with the instructions you gave in your previous reply.
I've removed my mods folder and am going through a game repair.
If without the mods folder it doesn't happen again I'll re-implement my mods folder and then see if it happens.
Fingers crossed it all works but if not I'll definitely upload for you.

Okay so quick update lol took me a while.
Repaired the game and am playing my sims so far unmodded and it's going okay but I hadn't managed to play long enough for a flea market event to occur yet and see if it still happens.
I got a tiny bit impatient and decided to re-implement my mods folder just a few mods at a time and so far so good, but then I finally did reach a flea market event and then surely enough some sim days later, the culprit sim started to lag me a little bit, but I don't know if that's just coincidental or not because it was fine for a while.
I went through the painful process to removing my mods and trialling them bit by bit to see if I could pinpoint which of my mods was causing the problem and I've gone through most of them but I'll check the rest of them tomorrow.
I checked my Sims 4 folder and I saw there was a lastException text file which was odd because I know I don't have any mods that change or alter any behaviours, it's just CAS clothing, wall paints, floor tiles and other random art works and paintings, but I wondered if there was something that would cause an unknown error that would make an unplayed created sim do something random like hunt for lots of frogs or breed lots of frogs and buy paintings from a flea market event.
Thankfully I've had no crashes but I did try to read the lastException file and something popped out at me where it said something like attempt to traverse between two states where no valid path exists!
I thought maybe I've accidentally imported a wrong DDS file to a texture or something but I don't know if that can cause a behavioural change or that it would just show the wall paper or painting incorrectly.
I have Sims4Studio so tomorrow I will check my mods with the program and see if there's something I did wrong although this wasn't happening before on a previous world where I had 4 households I had created and played at various times.
Anyway the game is still playable enough as I have a pretty decent rig thankfully but I will do some more checks and then if I still can't figure it out, I will definitely upload and see if you can shed any light on it.
I haven't gotten the latest updates yet as Australian internet sucks and the area where I live still uses horrible ADSL and doesn't have NBN available at all so I generally play with Origin offline.
It is downloading now however and I will let it download overnight and so I might have to see if the latest updates fix it for me.
