Update deleted my sims 2020

I haven’t played sims 4 in about a month, so when I tried to play it again there was an update. After the update all my sims were gone. I created a new character and clicked on Load game button to try to get my old saves and there was nothing. I have my saves in my files on my computer and can pinpoint my last save, but still can’t get them on the game. I lost 1200+ hours and lots of generations and really want them back if anyone can help. Thank you!

  • @JamieBlackBeak  Please open the folder with your saves in it, and copy and paste the file path here.  You can see the file path in the address bar in a File Explorer window, above the list of files and folders, and you can right-click on it and Copy.

Please also create a new save (no need to play more than a couple minutes), save your progress, go back to the Main Menu, click Load Game, and hover over the folder icon below the other information about that save.  You'll see the file path where that save is located.  Please post it here too.

In both cases, feel free to write [username] instead of your actual username, but please leave the rest of the file path intact.

Here is my save from my folder

    C:\Users\Jamie\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves

And here is the new save from the game

    C:\Users\Jamie\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\saves\Slot_00000002.save

@JamieBlackBeak  It's strange that your old saves wouldn't be recognized, since they're in the correct place.  See if loading them in a clean folder helps.  Move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, then launch the game to create a new folder.  Copy over one save from the old folder to the new one and test.  If it doesn't show up, copy over a different save and test.

You can also try loading the backup versions of the saves, although you'll need to delete the .verx (x being a number from 0 to 4) on the end of the backups.  Since you're copying and pasting, you can mess with the new copies however you want, and the originals will be intact in your old folder.

If none of your old saves load, is it possible that one or more packs you own is no longer installed?
