Hello,
I think the issue you have is related to the VMWare software you're using. Your DxDiag information says your video card is a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter", whereas you actually have an Intel HD 4000 chip. As far as I know, the game will search your system's information (including video card) in a similar way to how the DxDiag report does, therefore because the game does not recognise the "Standard VGA Graphic Adapter" as a result of using VMWare, it thinks you don't have a supported graphics card.
I'll see if I can get some specific Mac-related help here.
I hope this helps and keep simming,
Cody
Hello
I am supposed to be the Mac help, although I will first say that VMware is not an area of expertise! Fortunately I know someone who deals with Macs all the time and frequently uses VMware so I have asked some questions about this. I am sorry it has taken me so long to post about it.
OK, the first thing you should check is the settings being used by your VM software. You should be able to customise VM quite a lot - for example you can tell it how much RAM to access and that sort of thing. You should also be able to check in the settings that the VMware is using the right graphics card. If your machine has more than one graphics card, for example, it may be trying to use the wrong one.
Another thing you could try is to go to the relevant website for the graphics card that you want the VM to be using and download the correct, up-to-date drivers for that card and install them yourself. This will rule out the possibility that the VM is using outdated drivers or having problems getting the updates.
If you continue to have problems then you might be able to get some help from the manufacturers of your VM software.
For Mac-specific help with running the game on VM, I would recommend that you post in the Mac section of the official Sims forums (yes, it is within the Sims 3 area but it is the only Mac area available on that forum so people talk about TS4 there as well). There are some people there who have far more technical expertise than I do, including some who use VMware on their Macs. This link will take you to what I think is the most relevant thread to start off with: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/777470/the-sims-4-on-boot-camp-virtual-machines
Good luck!
