Video card still not recognized

Hello.

I have been trying to get my Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card to get recognized by the Sims for quite a while. I have referenced multiple articles and forums where I am asked to go into the ConfigOverride folder of the game and manually enter the card's information in the .sgr file. This was after I found a file from Google Drive that had a bunch of updated information for graphics cards that weren't supported. I have attatched what it looks like from my end so that maybe someone can help me figure out this issue! Thanks so much in advance.

  • kapwilson98  I can think of a few simple reasons this might happen:

    • You haven't launched the game since you made this edit
    • You're looking at a stale copy of Config.log, as in, not the one in the folder the game is reading
    • You've added the edited copy of GraphicsCards.sgr to a folder the game isn't reading

For the last two, here's how to find the correct folder:

Please make sure the paths match exactly.

You will need to change TWO files and not just one to enhance your graphics.

    GraphicsRules.sgr and VideoCards.sgr

Both files are found and belong in:

    C:\Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 4\Game\Bin

These files do Not belong in Overrides; it sounds like you're trying to use a pre-configured file you downloaded somewhere? If this is so, get rid of that file and configure your files manually; make sure to make a COPY of both files for Backup before editing them.

You can find out how exactly to configure your files HERE:

    Change The Graphicsrules.Sgr Manually:

    and HERE:

    Hope this Helps! :)

  • WvMISKAvW  A couple notes:

    • The file is called GraphicsCards.sgr , not VideoCards.sgr
    • The OP is not trying to enhance their graphics, just get their GPU recognized
    • They therefore do not need to edit GraphicsRules.sgr at all
    • The GraphicsCards.sgr file does belong in ConfigOverride, which is a folder specifically created by the game itself for the purpose of hosting edited .sgr files

There is no need for the instructions in your first link, since that's not the OP's goal here; and the OP already knows everything in the second link, which also happens to list what was an incorrect file path even when Origin was still the default game launcher.
