Visual Artifacts and then Game Crash

Ok, so I am not sure if this is a bug or technical issue, but I figured that this was just as good as any other place to post my problem.... I am currently running the Sims 4 (standard install from ...

    I fixed it!!! 

    Here is what worked for me...

    Steps:

    1. Un-install the game, be sure to create a backup of your saved game files (see below).
    2. Reboot the computer.
    3. Re-install DirectX 11, you can find it here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 
    4. Reboot the computer.
    5.  Re-install the Sims 4 and all updates.

    Backing Up Saved Game Files:

    In your "My Documents" folder you should see a folder in there called "Electronic Arts" and inside of that folder you should see a folder named "The Sims 4". You will need to make a copy of that folder, if for some reason you need to restore your files just copy the backup to the original location. 

    If this does not work please let me know and I will try and help you fix it.

I am experiencing an identical problem with a similar setup.

The game runs for 1-2 hours of in-game time and then locks up.  Blue artifacts fill the screen and a hard lockup happens, requiring a hard reboot.

System specs are:

Intel i5-3570

16GB DDR3 RAM

Nvidia 760 GTX 2GB

480 GB SSD

No other game causes any kind of crash or lockup (any more than games might normally do so).

I have tried:

Complete wipe and reinstall of game.

Complete wipe and reinstall of Nvidia drivers.

Deletion of save game

A complete pass with MemTest86

A scan of the SSD with chkdsk

Logging CPU and GPU temps (all within normal)

I am at my wit's end.  The other computer in the house has absolutely no problems running this game on a nearly identical configuration (very slightly different video card).

Edit - I should probably add that I was able to play the game for about 5 hours over 3-4 days before this started happening.  No system changes or driver updates occurred to start this shenaniganry.

    Wow!!! glad to see that I am not the only one with this issue... I work in IT (fixing computers amongst other things) and I cant solve this issue for the life of me! I do not have this issue in any other game or in any stress tests... I am going to un-install the game and re-install it and see if that works. 

    I have done pretty much everything that you have listed as well and it has done nothing... to add to that the Windows Event Viewer gives no information regarding the error.
