Wanting cheap or small laptop to play

Is there any small laptops that would run sims 4 ? I'm wanting a laptop that I can take to uni to make notes so not too big or bulky .

Also any recommendations for a cheapish laptop (below £250-300) that'll run the sims? I don't mind low settings but I do have some packs

  • @VampireSapphire  To be honest, the laptops you could get for £300 would likely struggle with Sims 4 even on the lowest settings.  I had a look around, and even without taking weight into account, the cheapest laptops I saw with at least decent hardware started at £350 or so.  Even those might not be what you want for other reasons.

Are you willing to buy a used laptop from a site like Ebay?  There's some risk involved, but on the other hand, you could get a better deal than what you'd find from another online retailer, even considering used models.  If you'd prefer a new laptop, it would probably be better to wait until the Black Friday sales start—you might see a suitable laptop that's normally £400 or so fall into your price range.

Yeah I might have to look second hand. Didnt realise sims was that demanding. I used to play sims 3 and 4 on an old piece of crap and it ran fine so just assumed most laptops would be okay

Hi these are two im thinking about. They're both a acer aspire 3 but are different sizes with different processors and £100 difference between them. Do u reckon one of thse would be okay? It doesn't need to work amazing even on low settings with a few expansion packs is fine

@VampireSapphire  The first one is much better than the second.  Its processor is stronger and the integrated graphics chip is faster, plus the extra memory will help a lot: it's difficult these days to run much more than the base game and maybe some game or stuff packs on a computer with only 4 GB RAM.  Sims 4 is six years old now and has gotten much more demanding in that time.

I'd still worry about the 128 GB hard drive, although that would be okay if you're good at managing free storage and don't plan on installing all the packs.  It's not enough for a large pile of custom content though, or even for a bunch of large school projects along with Sims 4.

One other thing to note is that you'd need to "upgrade" to Windows 10 Home before installing anything; the S version of Windows doesn't allow any apps other than those in the Microsoft Store.  Switching to Home is easy though, and free; I'm just mentioning it so you don't wonder why your computer is blocking Origin from installing.

I still think you could do better for your money though, either for a used laptop or for something new on sale around Black Friday.  But if you don't want to wait that long, then the first laptop should be fine for Sims 4 on low settings.

@VampireSapphire  That would definitely be a better option; it should be able to run all Sims 4 packs together on medium settings, or maybe medium-high if you only have a few expansion packs.  If you wanted to save a bit of money, these two would also be good choices.  They have the same hardware, although they're not quite as light as the Zenbook.

(The second and third are the same model from two different stores.)

Any of these options should work out fine.
