christiangrimes7 If your priority is multi-zone RGB lighting, then there aren't really a lot of options in the cheap gaming laptop category, unfortunately. Most laptops either have lighting that can't change at all, or have one-zone lighting that you can adjust, meaning you could set it to change, but the entire keyboard would be lit up in the same one color at any given time. I couldn't find anything for the same price as either of the laptops you linked that also had similar hardware.
This one isn't any cheaper, but in case you're still shopping around, it's worth mentioning:
Here's how you could customize the RGB profile:
The iCUE software in the video is made by Corsair, and it would probably work on the laptops you've found too, if they don't have their own software that works better. (Always try the built-in option before downloading anything else, but sometimes that option isn't great.)
It's strange, a few years ago RGB keyboards were relatively common, and now they appear to be relatively rare. But perhaps the market has changed.
It's too bad there aren't more reasonably-priced options, but if Sims 4 is your main game and the lighting helps you enjoy using the laptop, then the price premium isn't terrible, as far as these things go.
As for the possibility that the laptop will break in a few weeks, that's what warranties are for. There's never a way to eliminate the possibility entirely—every single manufacturer puts out the occasional dud. But you exchange the unit, or get your money back and buy something else, and you're fine.
