White screen crash and error code 0e6d1221:1df4e8dc:0000012d:912c9c10
Hi! I got a new laptop (ASUS Tuf Gaming FX 705G) and when I started to play The Sims 4 with it, the game started to crash even thoug it worked just fine with my previous laptop.
Usually after an hour of playing, the game stops and and I see the desktop for a split second and then the game comes back, but the screen is white. I can hear the sounds and see and move the mouse cursor but nothing else. I can push the windows-button and the game comes down, but usually the screen remains white, so I can't see my desktop etc. after the crash.
After I force the program to shut down and try to boot sims again I get the following error. "Error 0e6d1221:1df4e8dc:0000012d:912c9c10 Can't run The Sims 4 with the video card in this system. Please check that the video card meets the minimum specifications and that the latest video drivers are installed."
I´ve been fighting with the bug for a month or so, so this list might be missing a thing or two, but here are some things I´ve tried:
- Running the game in windowed mode
- Updating windows
- Updating nvidia drivers
- Updating intel drivers
- Disabling the intel GPU
- Setting the game to use the GTX 1050 through Nvidia control panel
- Reinstalling windows
- Running the game as admin
-
Other weird things to maybe help with the diagnosis:
- If I just force the game to use the integrated Intel GPU, the sims does run, although badly.
- If I plug another screen to the laptop through HDMI and disable the laptops screen the sims seems to work.
- After a crash has occured and I try to boot the game again, the config file just says "Unable to read graphics device parameters. (code: 1)" BUT THIS HAPPENS ONLY IF I TRY TO BOOT IT AFTER A CRASH, as in the config file is "normal" after a crash, but lags when I try to boot the game.
- The "graphiccards.sgr" file has my GPU listed (Both the name and the device number match)
- After I reboot the laptop the game can be booted again, but the white screen just comes again; perhaps a bit faster each time.
- Sometimes I can induce the white screen to appear faster if I tap f1 and f2 for a minute or so ( Build mode / play mode )
Also to note:
- The GPU is not overheating
- I can play other games, for example, apex legends without issue on the laptop without the game crashing.
- Your Graphics driver is somewhat old so it must have failed when you tried to upgrade it. - Please try to use DDU to completely remove it and then install the latest from Nvidia.com https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
