White Screen Crash Shortly After Loading Game

This has become so frustrating. I have been having this issue since the February 2026 update. I have the base game with additional packs and expansions. I do not have and mods installed. Within a few minutes of loading my game, it will freeze up, the screen flickers, then goes white. I have to ctl+alt+del in order to get the game to completely close after the crash. I have tried repairing the game, switching the graphics settings, switching graphics drivers, clean install, and saving the game file as "old" and restarting the game. None of these have helped. My graphics drivers are completely up to date. Is there a resolution for this? I have seen that a lot of others are having similar issues, but I haven't seen a resolution. I have attached a copy of my dxdiag for reference.

  • Starinesa  Your dxdiag lists a number of crashes of the graphics driver, and the Sims 4 errors could also be related to the driver.  So please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of both drivers, as described here:

Use the newest drivers Acer provides for your laptop; you can update again later if these don't work.  This is the download page for your laptop:

Both drivers are in the VGA category, and you'll want the UMA (Intel) driver and the Nvidia RTX 5050 driver, although it looks like there's a newer driver for some other GPUs that come in this model laptop.  It's possible this driver would work for yours too and has simply not been validated, but the older driver is new enough that it should also work with Sims 4.

The proper order of operations is uninstall the Nvidia driver > uninstall the Intel driver > restart > reinstall the Intel driver > restart > reinstall the Nvidia driver > restart, all while your computer is offline.
