Whitescreen/CTD on Alt-Tab/Graphics Settings Change, after DLC Purchase.

I'm aware there's a topic that already covers Alt-Tab/Graphics settings changes leading to crashes, but the only suggested solution was to perform a clean-boot of your pc, which I'd done and unfortunately didn't have any results.

With that out of the way: I'd recently been playing The Sims 4 with the Get To Work, Pets, Realm of Magic, and Cool Kitchen Stuff, packs. The game would run, and I could freely alt-tab in and out of the game without issue. But recently, after acquiring the Seasons DLC, and the bundle of (City Living, Eating Out and Bowling) bundle, the game crashes if I alt-tab out of the game, and more pressingly, if I alter the games graphics settings. To try and remedy the situation, I'd attempted to change the Options.ini file to change the fullscreen value, but running in windowed lead to a CTD moments into launching.

Key Info/TL:DR;
- Game worked with the following DLC: Get to Work, Pets, Realm of Magic, Cool Kitchen Stuff
- Issue arose after aquisition of DLC: Seasons, City Living, Eating Out, Bowling Stuff

Steps taken to fix the issue
- Altering the Options.ini to make the game boot in borderless windowed.
- Clean system boot
- Disabling the packs via Launch Options
- Repairing game files via Origin Launcher
- Uninstalling and Reinstalling The Sims 4
- Scanned TS4 for Updates

Any and all help would be appreciated.

  • @Spartan781lt  If you happen to have RivaTuner Statistics Server or MSI Afterburner installed, disable them while you play.  They apparently don't get disabled in a clean boot, for whatever reason.

    Otherwise, try deleting options.ini; it may have been corrupted.  You'll need to redo all your in-game settings of course.

    If that doesn't make a difference, do you have GeForce Experience installed, and is it set to "optimize" your Sims 4 graphics settings?  If so, please disable that option, then delete options.ini (again) and test.

    P.S.  It's best to remove the MSInfo from your post: given the info it lists about your computer, it's best not to post it on a public site.

    ...I'm kicking myself for not closing Riva-tuner/MSI Afterburner. I'd had an issue previously with those programs and Rocket League not playing nice (preventing launch) Thanks for the advice @puzzlezaddict . It seems to have worked, simply closing Afterburner. Which, is mildly infuriating.
