Why can't I make a new game?

I tried to make a new game but it just showed a white screen. I was having an issue with the TS4_DX9_x64.exe file but I put it as an exception and it still does that. Was I supposed to make it an exc...

@suzziequ As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just let me know whether you can get far enough to start a new save and play in live mode for a bit.

If that doesn't help, please run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

@suzziequ You can move them to the new Sims 4 folder. But please test your mods and custom content first, if you have any—these are the most common source of this error. Start here with a list of mods and cc known to be broken after the latest major patch:

For anything not on that list, you'll need to test it yourself. If you have a lot of files to sort through, the 50/50 method can make the process much more efficient.

Once you've done that, you can move over the contents of saves, Tray (saved households and builds), Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you care about those, and the UserSetting.ini file for the login rewards. The rest can be discarded.
