sounds like one (or more) of your cc/mods are no longer compatible with the game.
Just find the one that's causing the issue and remove it. That should solve the issue

been there done that move the mods folder to desk top open game (to see if it works and to reset mods folder) add mods back 5 or so at a time keeping track of what u added till it "breaks" then pull out mods u just added one at a time till it works. Will drive u nuts but it the price we pay to make game 18+ lol. After that keep any script mods updated (those are the one that rewrite game parameters or add new animations) and use trusted site to get your mods not "Joe's black market mods site"
I use mods from places like the sims resource. And have tried talking to someone that works at EA but they weren't much help. Thanks for the tip
unfortunately your tip did not help. The game wouldn't start with any of my mods and I get most from the sims resource site

@godslittleangel First you need to find out which mod may be causing the problem. Did you try adding the mods back in one at a time? Ii could be a mod causing issues with another mod. If there are one or more mods that are causing the game to not start then your going to have to go to the mod creators site and see if there is an update for the mod.

If you haven't done this already, remember that when the game updates, it auto-disables custom content and mods. You have to re-enable them yourself. The option to do this is in the menu - go to your game options and click on the "other" tab. There is a box there that says "Enable Custom Content and Mods". Click that, restart your game, and your custom content should reappear.
I have tried everything to get the mods to work in the sims 4 game but if I have even one mod in my file it will not start.

You need to check for updates where you got them.
