I bought The Sims 4 yesterday. I finally got the game to actually to download today. After two and a half hours, it finally gets to 1%. I've seen many people with the same problem, but I figured I'll make a question myself since none were solved. It says it's downloading. Is it the proxy server? I turned it off, but it turns its self back on. It is understandable that many people are downloading games on Origin and that The Sims 4 is generally a big game, but this is unreasonable. I think it may had been a mistake to make all games downloaded digitally. I have a Windows 8 laptop, I don't really why its taking so long. :womanfrustrated:

There are 3 different reasons that logically make sense as to why this is happening.1.) If you have a really old computer or bad WiFi such as a long distance, very little bars, or a hotspot, that causes almost any download to go really slow.2.) Another reason is if the download keeps getting interrupted. What I mean by "interrupted" is, if there is maybe another program such as maybe a web page, another game, or a file, this could also be the problem. Its good to close out ALL other open programs and DO NOT keep opening and closing the download itself (origin or ea download manager) because that can also effect the download. The last thing to this reason is LEAVE YOUR COMPUTER ALONE! In other words try setting the settings on your pc/mac to sleep after...NEVER! That was a big problem for me!The third reason is me letting you know that this problem happens to more than 93% people who download it. Patience is very important because you don't want to loose all of your patience and take the game back. It honestly took about 17 hours for it to fully install. It is good to start the process at about 6pm so you can get ready to go to bed and wake up to about 95%.I hope this really helped! Friend me on origin @NerdyRobloxian!🙂

It could have so many reasons that your download is slow. But the most likely one is you having a slow internet connection. Try pausing the download and resuming @toripie9

mines taking ages I agree with you , they should make the games like sims 2 double deluxe. it would make the game so much better. no messing with the orgin account and having to be connecte to wifi. some peole may not have wifi

could be something going on with your ISP or your network. make sure you powercycle your modem/router and disable anti-virus/firewall. also try performing a traceroute using this page and following the instructions. if you see any packet loss being anything other than 0% or 100% then theres a problem somewhere.
also ensure you're connected hardwire into your router rather than going with wifi. could also try deleting origin cache files to see if that helps.

I don't understand why this is taking so long, I bought the game hoping to go on it the same day! Like I've been able to do with all the other sims games I ever had! If I known it was gonna be like this I would never have bought it! Ive listened to a lot of people saying they have closed the download and restarted it which I have done and had to start from scratch and it's still taking forever! This problem needs sorting! Fast!!

Hey there,
This might be a stretch, but have you tried swapping Windows users to try and download it? I've seen some situations where a damaged Windows Admin User can cause downloads to fail.
That, or just right-click Origin and select "Run as Administrator" and see if that brings up anything.
Usually I find that to be a good step to try with any new software.
