Won't load household

Hi! My game is stuck on the 'diamond load' page each time I click on household load. It was fine for years this is new.

Please can you assist.

I have followed every tip here to no avail: Households won't load ☹️ (SOLVED) — The Sims Forums

I do not have mods or custom music.

Thank you!

  • @karin947  You can try playing a different household within the same save for a few hours: save, quit, reload, and see whether your main household loads.  Use "save as" and rename the save so you don't overwrite your existing one—if this doesn't help, you can trash the new save and try something else.

Another option is to revert to a previous version of this save.  You might lose a little progress, but hopefully not too much.

If that doesn't help either, try evicting your main household and placing them in a different house.  Again, you can "save as" to leave the original save intact.

  • @karin947  Please disable your Adobe software before you play.  You can do so from the Task Manager: go through the list of background processes, and for anything that says Adobe or has its logo, click on it and End Task.  If you have the Adobe software set to start with Windows, these processes will also restart when you reboot your computer, so you'll need to repeat the process or change the software settings.

If that doesn't help, please move your entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just see whether you can create a new save and play in live mode for a bit.  Let me know either way.

Thank you so much for the response!

OK I tried that re. Adobe and it didn't work. I had tried the clean folder yesterday that DID work - i.e. let me play new households before I loaded my ones back.

I also just tried a different household and that does work - one that I had from before.

So the problem is with one household (a large one with 6 cats, on the new interior designer career, maybe that's why?). This one won't load. The green diamond spinning screen doesn't freeze, i.e. the captions change like usual, it just doesn't load even after 5-10 min.

At least I can play other households but of course would love to get that one back, so let me know if you have any ideas. Perhaps I delete the pets etc?

    Thank you!

Thank you again for all the help! I ended up moving them to a new house, and had a lot of fun building that and now very happy to have them living in that spot.

    Have a beautiful week!
